فودايبو إيزاكايا

Fudaibo is a cozy, grassroots local izakaya located in the Kakazu residential neighborhood. Run by a retired chef affectionately known as Ken or oyaji san, the establishment offers a casual, backyard-like atmosphere where locals and newcomers mingle freely over drinks and conversation.

Menu and Offerings

The menu features a variety of traditional Japanese and Okinawan dishes. Highlights include:

  • Grilled Items: Juicy yakitori (grilled chicken on a stick) and te ba saki (meaty chicken wings marinated in teriyaki and sesame sauce).
  • Seafood: Fresh sashimi (including daily offerings of salmon and tuna), grilled fish, and oysters.
  • Other Classics: Onigiri (large rice balls with fresh salmon or miso wrapped in nori) and fresh vegetables.

Ken is also willing to whip up custom dishes, such as pan-fried potatoes with bacon and asparagus. The izakaya is known for being very inexpensive and serves awamori (local sake), often shared between the owner and patrons.
